Foundations of Faith Community Nursing

The Westberg Institute’s Foundations of Faith Community Nursing basic course is a minimum of 36.5-hour course built to equip those wishing to either become a Faith Community Nurse in their faith community, to strengthen the ministry in which they are already involved or to enhance their current nursing practice. This curriculum is owned by the Spiritual Care Association of New York, NY 505 8th Ave, Suite 900, NY, NY 10018.

Educational Partner Lead Educator Course and Update 2024 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum

Based on the 2024 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course developed by the Westberg Institute for Faith Community Nursing, this interactive webinar is for new and experienced lead faculty, additional educators affiliated with an educational partner organization and others interested in becoming educators. 

The cost of attending this educational course is included in the purchase price of the 2024 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing curriculum. A link will be provided upon purchase of the curriculum.

Advanced Educator’s Series

Series Description: 

Based on the 2024 Foundations of Faith Community Nursing Curriculum created by the Westberg Institute, this interactive webinar series is for new and experienced lead faculty, additional educators affiliated with an educational partner organization and others interested in becoming educators. By completing the webinar, participants will be better prepared to plan, market, fund, conduct, and evaluate a Foundations of Faith Community Nursing course according to best-practice standards.

If purchasing as a series:

CNE hours: The series qualifies for 4 ANCC accredited nursing professional development contact hours (CNE) and Continuing Nursing Professional Development Contact Hours available on request.

If purchasing individually:

CNE hours: Each module qualifies for 1 ANCC accredited nursing professional development contact hours (CNE) and Continuing Nursing Professional Development Contact Hours available on request.

Module 1Professionalism

This interactive module describes professionalism in the nursing context and suggests strategies that educators may use to assist faith community nurses to forge a positive public and professional image of their practice.

Continuing Education: upon completion of the webinar, participants may request 1.0 contact hours.

Module 2: Marketing and Selection of Participants

Educators completing this interactive module will gain insight and knowledge related to the basics of course marketing and how to create a marketing plan. In addition, several aspects of screening and selection of course participants are included.

Module 3: Funding Opportunities

This interactive module assists the participant to consider opportunities, barriers and methods to overcome the challenges of funding their course, practice and projects. Emphasis is placed on the fundamentals of grant writing along with other suggestions for seeking funding and budgeting. Henri Nouwen’s classic text: A Spirituality of Fundraising is strongly suggested as a resource.

Module 4: Teaching & Learning Tips

Tips and techniques included in this module focus on faculty interaction with adult learners and various options for self-care. Adult learning theory and strategies for successfully selecting from lecture, discussion, role play, simulation, case studies, gaming, journaling, and technology to apply information to real world experiences are included.
